Fieldfisher launches offices in Lisbon and Porto
Fieldfisher strengthens its Iberian presence with the launch of Fieldfisher Portugal, welcoming a 68-strong team from André Miranda Associados.
The international law firm has officially launched operations in Portugal, opening offices in Lisbon and Porto. The newly formed team comprises two partners, four directors, 45 lawyers, and 17 corporate services professionals, totaling 68 professionals. The entire group joins from André Miranda Associados (AMA).
The Portuguese practice will be led by André Miranda and João André Antunes, who assume the roles of Managing Partners of Fieldfisher Portugal. Both bring extensive experience in local and international legal markets, along with a strong record of business development.
Fieldfisher Portugal will offer full-service legal support with a team that brings a diverse client portfolio spanning multiple sectors and jurisdictions.
This move follows recent the firm expansions into Austria, Italy, and Poland, marking Portugal as a strategically important addition to the firm’s European network. The country presents high growth potential in technology, financial services, and energy—three of Fieldfisher’s global priority sectors.
Backed by government incentives, EU recovery funds, and a skilled local workforce, Portugal is fast becoming a hub for digital innovation, green infrastructure, and smart technologies. Cities like Lisbon and Porto are emerging as testing grounds for fintech, health tech, cleantech, and smart city solutions. The services sector, which includes finance, telecom, tourism, and creative industries, accounts for nearly 80% of national GDP, making Portugal an increasingly attractive destination for cross-sector investment and innovation.
Robert Shooter, Fieldfisher’s Managing Partner, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Fieldfisher Portugal to our international network. The country’s dynamic economy, innovation culture, and openness to foreign investment make it a natural fit for our growth strategy.”
Also André Miranda, Co-Managing Partner of Fieldfisher Portugal, commented: “Joining Fieldfisher marks a pivotal moment for our team. We are proud of what we have built and excited for this new chapter backed by a global platform. This step allows us to offer greater capabilities and international reach to our clients.”
João André Antunes, Co-Managing Partner, added: “We see tremendous opportunity in aligning with Fieldfisher’s values and vision. Our clients will benefit from enhanced services, and our team is energised by the potential for growth and innovation within a leading European firm.”
With the launch of Fieldfisher Portugal, the firm now operates 27 offices across 14 countries, solidifying its position as one of Europe’s most dynamic and fastest-growing law firms.
