ACS appoints State Attorney Ignacio Pereña as its GC
Spanish construction ACS has appointed Ignacio Pereña Pinedo, a seasoned State Attorney, as its new General Counsel (GC), marking the creation of a legal advisory role at the highest level of the company’s corporate structure.
Pereña, formerly of Redexis, is a state attorney on leave of absence and joins the company as head of its legal division. Pereña, who previously held senior legal positions at Endesa, including Legal and Regulatory Director of Endesa Gas T&D and Secretary of the Board, brings a wealth of experience in corporate law, regulation, and governance. His appointment underscores ACS’s commitment to strengthening its legal and compliance frameworks in a rapidly evolving business environment.
This new position will report directly to José Luis del Valle, one of the company’s key historical figures and long-time right-hand man to Florentino Pérez, Chairman and CEO of ACS.
With this move, ACS aligns itself with major international companies that place strategic emphasis on legal affairs at board level. Pereña’s background as a State Attorney (Abogado del Estado) and his track record in regulated sectors are expected to add significant value to the group’s operations and strategic decision-making.
The creation of the General Counsel role also reflects the growing complexity of the regulatory landscape in which ACS operates, particularly in infrastructure, energy, and international markets.
