Javier Hernández-Valenciano, new equity partner of Clyde & Co
Clyde & Co has announced the appointment of Javier Hernández-Valenciano as equity partner. Hernández-Valenciano, who until now was a local partner in the Madrid office, joins the firm’s group of 490 international partners, a share of the partnership fee in recognition of his career and contribution to the strategic growth of the international maritime and commercial law practice.
As indicated by Enrique Navarro and Miguel Relaño, managing partners of Clyde & Co in Spain, this promotion not only recognizes the career and commitment of Javier Hernández-Valenciano, but also reflects the firm commitment of Clyde & Co to strengthen the Aviation & Marine area, at a particularly complex and strategic time at a global level.
Javier Hernández-Valenciano
Hernández-Valenciano specializes in maritime law and international trade, as well as in matters related to cybersecurity. He regularly advises large companies, including global energy companies, traders and national and international insurers. His practice includes complex projects and disputes related to shipping, oil & gas, project cargo, offshore, cybersecurity, ports and terminals, as well as transactions related to the energy transition.
Since joining Clyde & Co in June 2017, his contribution has been instrumental in consolidating the firm’s Aviation & Marine practice, led by Enrique Navarro, and strengthening the firm’s international connections.
In addition to his professional practice, Hernández-Valenciano maintains an academic connection as a member of the Cluster of Professors of Private International Law at San Pablo CEU University, and teaches on the Master’s Degree in Business and Maritime Law at the Spanish Maritime Institute and ICADE Business School, among others.
“Geopolitical tensions, increasingly complex regulatory environments and global disruptions, especially affecting trade and supply chains, are giving rise to new needs for highly specialized legal advice with an international vision. At Clyde & Co we have a global structure and a technical approach that allows us to be where we are needed,” said Hernández-Valenciano after his appointment.
Aviation & Marine Area
Precisely, the maritime and international trade practice has been gaining weight within the firm’s structure, not only because of the volume of matters, but also because of its cross-cutting nature, which connects with other hyperspecialties such as regulatory, environmental, financial or insurance law.
With this promotion, Clyde & Co now has four international partners in the Madrid office: Enrique Navarro, Miguel Relaño, Isabel Burón and Hernández-Valenciano himself.
