Uría Menéndez advises Siemens Gamesa on wind business sale
Uría Menéndez has played a key advisory role in Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy’s strategic divestment of its wind business in India and Sri Lanka. The transaction, structured as an asset sale, involves a group of investors led by TPG and allows Siemens Gamesa to retain a 10% stake in the transferred business.
The agreement includes the manufacture, installation, and servicing of onshore wind turbines across both countries, positioning the business for continued growth under new ownership while maintaining Siemens Gamesa’s strategic involvement.
Uría Menéndez’s team advising on the deal was led by Tomás Acosta, partner in M&A-Private Equity (pictured left), alongside Tomás Arranz, partner in Antitrust (pictured right). The team also included managing associates Carlos Montoro (M&A-Private Equity) and Jokin Beltrán de Lubiano (Competition), as well as senior associates Marta Giner and Ana Hidalgo (both M&A-Private Equity), and associate César Farrapeira (M&A-Private Equity). All from the Madrid office.
This transaction highlights Uría Menéndez’s expertise in complex cross-border M&A transactions within the renewable energy sector, reinforcing its position as a leading legal advisor in high-profile corporate deals.
