Cuatrecasas appoints four new partners in Spain
Cuatrecasas has approved today, during the Extraordinary Partners Meeting, the appointment as new partners of David Fernández de Retana (litigation), Gabriel Morales (litigation and arbitration), Jaime Moya (corporate and M&A), Miguel Muñoz (tax litigation), Ramiro Portocarrero (litigation and arbitration) and David-Isaac Tobía (labor and employment).
David Fernández de Retana, litigation partner
The lawyer joins from Uría Menéndez, where he has worked for more than 20 years, where he has accumulated experience in litigation in the commercial, civil and compliance areas, handling claims in contract law, corporate disputes, civil liability and inheritance law, as well as financial litigation and damages in antitrust matters. He is also a professor and academic expert at the University of Deusto.
Gabriel Morales, litigation and arbitration partner
He has extensive and solid experience in civil and criminal judicial proceedings, judicial reviews and arbitration. He has been a state lawyer since 2001, advising and defending important public institutions and agencies. In turn, he has worked in state agreements and as a member of the Advisory Council of Aragon. Since 2022, he has headed the in-house legal department of the renowned financial institution, Ibercaja.
Miguel Muñoz, tax litigation
He is an expert in tax litigation and EU law, especially in direct taxation and State aid, with more than 23 years of experience. State lawyer on leave of absence, he has been an agent before the CJEU and director of the legal services of the CNE, among other important positions. He is a regular lecturer and contributor to international publications and joins the firm from PwC Spain, where he was partner in charge of tax proceedings.
David-Isaac Tobía, labor and employment partner
He is a lawyer with three decades of recognized professional experience specializing in labor litigation, employment restructuring and labor relations. After his first stint at Cuatrecasas (2001-2006), he was managing partner of Deloitte Legal’s labor and employment practice in Spain until 2019, when he took over as head of Sagardoy Abogados in Barcelona. In addition to being a regular columnist and speaker, he is a lecturer and has been recognized for his work in several directories.
