Pérez-Llorca advises Edrington on Tevasa strategic partnership
Pérez-Llorca has successfully advised Edrington, the producer of The Macallan whisky, in its strategic partnership with Tevasa, a leading cooperage in Jerez, Spain. This collaboration secures Edrington’s access to premium Sherry Casks, a cornerstone of The Macallan’s iconic whisky maturation process.
Under the agreement, Edrington will acquire a 50% stake in Tevasa Forestal Group, which includes the Tevasa cooperage in Jerez and its affiliated sawmills in Lugo and Cabezón de la Sal. This partnership ensures a sustainable supply of high-quality European oak casks while reinforcing Edrington’s investment in craftsmanship and innovation.
This initiative follows Edrington’s recent investments in Spain, including the acquisition of a 50% stake in Grupo Estévez, the purchase of the Vasyma cooperage, and a partnership with Coopers Oak.
Paul Hyde, CFO of Edrington, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “Tevasa and its sister companies have been valued partners for over 40 years, crafting exceptional casks that define The Macallan’s unique character. This deeper collaboration underscores our commitment to excellence and innovation in whisky production.”
The leadership at Tevasa and Forestal Peninsular will remain under the guidance of Narciso Fernández Iturrospe and Camilo Fernández Alonso, ensuring continuity in their tradition of outstanding craftsmanship.
This partnership marks a significant milestone for Edrington and The Macallan as they celebrate their 200th anniversary, further solidifying their dedication to the artistry and heritage of whisky-making.
