CMS advises Syntegon on the acquisition of Telstar

An international team at CMS has advised Syntegon, the German leader in packaging technology for the pharmaceutical and food industries, on its acquisition of Telstar. The company is a prominent company specializing in processing systems for life sciences and healthcare, was previously owned by the publicly traded Japanese company, Azbil Corporation.

This transaction, conducted as a competitive process, was led by CMS Spain’s Commercial Law department partners Elena Alcázar and Luis Miguel de Dios, alongside lead senior associate Jorge Peris. In addition to the CMS Spain team, the transaction involved collaboration with experts from CMS offices in Brazil, China, France, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, along with partners in Bangladesh and India.

Latham & Watkins served as advisors to Azbil Corporation, the selling party.

This acquisition further strengthens Syntegon’s position in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector and demonstrates CMS’s capacity to provide cross-border legal support in complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions.
