Addleshaw Goddard hires Sara Fernández for Competition Practice
Addleshaw Goddard has announced the establishment of a new Competition Law department in Spain, which will be headed by Sara Fernández, an experienced lawyer with over a decade in EU, Spanish, and international competition law, as well as in foreign subsidies and investment regulations (FSR and FDI).
Sara Fernández, who joins as counsel, brings a wealth of experience to the firm, having previously worked at prestigious firms including Garrigues, Pérez-Llorca, and McDermott Will & Emery in the United States. Throughout her career, she has advised both national and international companies across diverse industries, with a particular focus on the energy, pharmaceutical, and technology sectors.
Roberto Pomares, Managing Partner of Addleshaw Goddard in Spain, noted that the addition of the new Competition department will enhance the firm’s ability to support clients in increasingly sophisticated transactions within both the Spanish and European markets. Speaking on Fernández’s appointment, Pomares emphasized her in-depth expertise in merger control and competition law, alongside her commitment to clients—qualities that align closely with the firm’s core values.
On a global level, Rona Bar-Isaac, Addleshaw Goddard’s Head of Competition, highlighted Fernández’s impressive track record in complex industry sectors and affirmed that her expertise would further strengthen the firm’s competitive legal services across Europe.
Expressing enthusiasm for her new role, Sara Fernández described the move to Addleshaw Goddard as a pivotal opportunity, allowing her to contribute to the firm’s international reach and lead its competition law practice in Spain. “Joining a firm with such a strong international focus and leading its competition practice here in Spain is an exciting challenge I look forward to,” Fernández remarked.
