Morais Leitão inaugurates new auditorium in Porto
Morais Leitão will inaugurate its new auditorium at the Porto office with a colloquium dedicated to Criminal Law, organized by the Criminal, Administrative Offenses, and Compliance Department in collaboration with the Miguel Galvão Teles Institute (IMGT), on October 17. The event will bring together prominent figures from the national legal landscape to discuss key topics on the anti-corruption agenda.
The afternoon of discussions will begin with welcoming remarks and presentations by Bernardo Lobo Xavier and Rui Patrício from Morais Leitão, followed by opening talks on the topic, “Is Anything Changing or Staying the Same? The New Anti-Corruption Agenda,” by José Mouraz Lopes, judge at the Court of Auditors, and Tiago Félix da Costa from Morais Leitão.
Roundtable discussion
Next will be the roundtable discussion, “Strategy, Prevention, Repression, and Empowerment in the Fight Against Corruption,” led by David Silva Ramalho from Morais Leitão, with the participation of Cláudia Cruz Santos, member of Parliament and associate professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Coimbra, Artur Marques, lawyer, Nuno Serdoura dos Santos, public prosecutor, and Duarte Santana Lopes and Tiago Monfort, both from Morais Leitão.
Tiago Geraldo, from Morais Leitão, will moderate the following panel titled “Corruption: Mega-Cases, Mega-Regimes, and Mega-Communication,” with contributions from Manuel da Costa Andrade, retired professor and former president of the Constitutional Court, João Matos Viana from Morais Leitão, and journalist Rita Marrafa de Carvalho.
Eduardo Verde Pinho from Morais Leitão will deliver the closing remarks, concluding an afternoon of deep reflection on the challenges and strategies in combating corruption in Portugal, incorporating different perspectives on the issue. “This colloquium on October 17 marks the official opening of the new space in Porto and reflects Morais Leitão’s commitment to fostering relevant and timely debates in the legal field”, states the firm.
