Uría Menéndez Advises Banco Santander on Atgro’s investment

Banco Santander, in collaboration with Atitlan, has launched Atgro, a global investment platform focused on the development of agricultural projects. This strategic initiative includes a minority investment by Santander in Elaia, Atitlan’s subsidiary responsible for managing Atgro’s agricultural ventures.

The creation of Atgro, valued at over €500 million, marks a significant step in Santander’s expansion into the agricultural sector. Atgro’s first acquisitions involve a major investment in Peru, valued at approximately $100 million in equity, while the value of the Spanish asset remains undisclosed.

Uría Menéndez‘s team of legal professionals specializing in M&A, private equity, banking, tax, and competition law has advised Banco Santander. The Spanish-law aspects were led by partners Manuel Echenique, Pedro Ravina, and Martín Jordano, with support from managing associates Felipe Carbonell and Alfonso Bernar.
