Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría now External Advisor at Cuatrecasas
Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría will assume a new role as an external advisor at Cuatrecasas starting January 1, 2025, after nearly six years of serving as a lawyer, partner, and deputy to the President. In this new position, she will focus on providing strategic advice, supporting the firm’s management team, and representing Cuatrecasas before institutions and organizations, particularly in the international arena. As announced at the Board of Directors meeting in July, Sáenz de Santamaría will continue to serve as a partner and a member of the Board until December 31, 2024.
Reflecting on this transition, Sáenz de Santamaría stated, “It has been a rewarding period of intense work, returning to the legal profession. I now look forward to a new phase, more focused on management, where I will support the firm during a time of significant challenges. Cuatrecasas is fully immersed in its 2024-2026 Strategic Plan, which involves a global restructuring of our service delivery, with a strong client focus, and the consolidation of our international expansion, aiming to establish ourselves as a global reference in Latin America. My new role will be instrumental in this strategy.”
During her tenure at the firm, she has made significant contributions to the Corporate Compliance practice and has overseen strategic sectors and foreign investment controls within the firm’s corporate law area. Executive Chairman Rafael Fontana praised her impact, stating, “Soraya has proven to be an exceptional lawyer, highly skilled with remarkable management abilities. Her talent has been recognized and greatly valued by all the clients she has advised. While we will lose an outstanding partner, we will gain a highly valuable external advisor who will continue to guide us in executing the firm’s strategy.”
