Cuatrecasas advises CS Wind on new port of Aveiro facility
Cuatrecasas has provided legal advice to CS Wind, a manufacturer of wind towers, in the public tender for the installation and operation of an industrial unit for the production of components for the offshore wind industry at the Port of Aveiro. The new unit will receive investments ranging from 200 to 300 million euros and is expected to create around 1.000 jobs.
The new hub
This new unit—the multinational’s fourth factory in Portugal—will be situated on two parcels of land, totaling 121.362 square meters, adjacent to the facilities that CS Wind already has on site. It will feature cutting-edge technology for the manufacturing of offshore wind components, including floating offshore foundations, states Cuatrecasas. The initiative aims to strengthen the Port of Aveiro’s position as one of the largest hubs for offshore component production in Europe. The concession has an initial duration of 30 years, with the possibility of a single 10-year extension, and is expected to generate 2.184 million euros annually for the port authority.
The legal advisors
The Cuatrecasas team involved in this advisory role included principal associate João Sequeira Sena and lawyer Miguel Dias das Neves, under the coordination of partner Lourenço Vilhena de Freitas (pictured), co-coordinator of the Public Law department.
