Ramón Hermosilla Martín, honorary president of Ontier, passes away
Ramón Hermosilla Martín, honorary president of Ontier, has passed away at the age of 90. The founding partner of the firm contributed to the transformation of the traditional law firm into the global law firm it is today, captained at the global level by Bernardo Gutiérrez de la Roza, CEO of the firm.
Ramón Hermosilla Martín
Ramón Hermosilla founded the law firm Ramón Hermosilla in 1959, which quickly became a reference in the criminal-economic area of the Spanish legal sector for leading key cases of its time. Among these cases were the Rumasa case, Banco Bilbao’s takeover bid for Banesto and the purchase of Marks & Spencer’s by El Corte Inglés of Galerías Preciados. A small firm, with only thirty professionals, but which handled highly recognized cases.
In January 2009, the law firms Ramón Hermosilla and Gutiérrez de la Roza merged into one, Ramón Hermosilla y Gutiérrez de la Roza. The new firm was renamed RHGR before leaving behind the founders’ names and becoming Ontier in 2014.

The firm has said goodbye to the lawyer with these beautiful words on its LinkedIn page: “Ramón was one of the most remarkable and brilliant lawyers in the recent history of Spain, contributing to the transformation of a traditional law firm into the global, modern and innovative law firm that we are today. He taught us that, no matter how good a lawyer you are, you can’t get anywhere alone; that the important thing is the team; that you have to forget the “I” to get to the “we”; that, always putting the client at the center, with study, hard work, generosity, honesty, passion, kindness, good faith and friendship, we can get wherever we want to go.”
