PLMJ incorporates Sofia Galvão to boost Urban Planning team

PLMJ incorporates Sofia Galvão Advogados to enhance the Urban Planning team. Lawyer Sofia Galvão (pictured left) will join PLMJ as senior counsel, and Luís Moitinho de Almeida (pictured right) will join the firm’s partners. Sofia Galvão’s team consists of eight lawyers, who will join PLMJ’s Urban Planning and Territorial Management team, led by Andreia Candeias Mousinho, now expanding to around 15 lawyers. This makes it a unique team in the market in terms of experience, quality, and size, states PLMJ.

Boosting Urban Planning

“Bringing Sofia Galvão, Luís Moitinho de Almeida, and their team into our firm is extraordinary for PLMJ due to the immense technical quality of these lawyers and the unparalleled experience that makes Sofia an undeniable reference in this area and Luís a safe bet. It became evident to us that our legal advisory in Urban Planning had to be highly specialized, and we began this path with the hiring of Andreia Candeias Mousinho and the formation of a dedicated team that has been doing distinctive and highly recognized work by the market, which has been demanding its expansion”, Bruno Ferreira, managing partner of PLMJ, says.

Sofia Galvão, founder of Sofia Galvão Advogados, commented: “I return to PLMJ, almost 20 years later, with a group of lawyers who have made a clear choice about the kind of law practice they want and know how to conduct: rigorous and demanding, solution-oriented, and founded on a close relationship with clients. We are independent and choose not to do everything so that we can focus on what we know how to do well. I found this same culture in the PLMJ project, which I know well and was a significant part of my career. I believe that we are at the right moment for this merger, which will allow us to go further in the vision we share and will be a new stage in the career of this extraordinary team.”

Sofia Galvão was the Partner responsible for the Urban Planning Departments at PLMJ and for Real Estate, Urban Planning, and Environment at two leading law firms in Portugal. Luís Moitinho de Almeida joins PLMJ as a partner. He was an advisor to the Secretary of State for Administrative Modernization in the XIX Constitutional Government and works in all areas of Territorial Law, especially in the sectors of urban planning, environment, energy, and licensing.
