Sastre Beceiro signs Pedro Brufao as ‘Of Counsel’

Sastre Beceiro Abogados, the boutique led by Mónica Sastre, has hired Pedro Brufao Curiel as Of Counsel, to strengthen the environmental area. He will also contribute to launch the firm’s public employment area.

With more than 30 years of experience, she is a Professor of Administrative Law at the University of Extremadura, a technical and academic profile that the managing partner of Sastre Beceiro Abogados describes as “essential for the level of legal complexity involved in the matters of our firm, at the height of our clients and the importance of ensuring their interests with guarantees”. “It is a personal and professional luxury to be able to count on Pedro Brufao Curiel in our firm, not only for the human side, but also for being a reference in our sector, lecturer on legal matters since 1990, both in Spain and in the UK, USA, Italy, Cuba or Tunisia”, says Monica Sastre.

Brufao has collaborated and provided legal opinions and reports as a consultant for law firms and public and private entities on Regulatory, Competition, Energy, Administrative, Environmental, Public Employment and Sports Law, especially in national and EU matters, highlighting the Ministry of Environment, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Alternativas Foundation, the New Water Culture Foundation and the WWF.

Pedro Brufao will strengthen the environmental area of the firm, due to his experience in water and energy law, protected natural areas and agricultural law, among others. He will also contribute to launch the public employment area as an expert in the field.

He holds a Masters of Laws in Energy & Environmental Law from Tulane University in the U.S.A., with a Fulbright Commission scholarship, and a PhD in Administrative Law from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
Since 2019 he is Full Professor of Administrative Law at the University of Extremadura. In the past he was scientific advisor to the Botín Foundation in its project on groundwater management and wetland conservation. His awards include the New Water Culture Foundation Award in 2022 and several of his papers were shortlisted for the Ministry of Defense Legal Award in 2015 and the Center for Financial Studies Award in 2014 and 2016.
