Iberdrola and Mutualidad Foundation Partner to Train Lawyers

Iberdrola’s legal and fiscal services have strengthened their commitment to social responsibility through a new collaboration with the Fundación Mutualidad. This partnership aims to enhance the legal training of professionals working to support vulnerable populations. The agreement, signed at the Torre Iberdrola in Bilbao, will also assist young legal professionals in refining their career paths.

The signing ceremony was attended by Santiago Martínez Garrido, Secretary General and of the Board of Iberdrola Spain, and Blanca Narváez Vega de Seoane, Director General of Fundación Mutualidad. Other notable attendees included Idoia Basterrechea from the Mutualidad’s Board of Governors, legal and fiscal professionals from Iberdrola Spain, and Maite Morillo, Dean of the Bizkaia Bar Association, along with Eduardo Maeso and Gorka Beristain from the ICAB.

A cornerstone of this collaboration is the establishment of a Legal Campus designed to train young students enrolled in the Master’s program for Legal Practice in Bilbao. This initiative will provide them with essential skills and practical experience, including mock interviews and cooperation with law firms, thereby enhancing their professional development.

Santiago Martínez Garrido emphasized the significance of the agreement, stating, “This agreement will contribute to the education of the legal community and encourage young professionals to develop their careers rigorously, ultimately benefiting those most in need.”

Enrique Sanz Fernández-Lomana, President of Fundación Mutualidad, highlighted the social impact of the alliance, noting that it unites two entities dedicated to fostering sector growth and supporting vulnerable groups. Blanca Narváez Vega de Seoane added, “The importance of partnerships lies in achieving a greater social impact, aligned with the Foundation’s goal of cultivating a network of compassionate individuals and companies.”

The agreement will also support the “Sumar y Escalar” program, focusing on training autonomous lawyers and those working pro bono in legal issues related to homelessness. It will identify legal needs, provide training, and offer resources and legal guidance to bar associations. Additionally, the partnership will develop informative materials for social organizations, enhancing their access to legal resources and support.
