DLA Piper promotes Mariana Ricardo as partner
DLA Piper has announced the promotion to partner of 63 lawyers, including the appointment of Mariana Ricardo, in the Lisbon office, as a partner in the Finance, Projects and Restructuring practice area, effective May 1. The promotions have occurred across all practice areas of the firm, which covers 37 offices in 18 countries.
Mariana Ricardo
Mariana has a background in public law and practices in the areas of life sciences and regulation, covering regulatory issues in healthcare, particularly in pharmaceuticals, medical devices and other health-related products. She advises public entities and private companies in a wide range of sectors, including waste management (especially hazardous medical and pharmaceutical waste), construction and infrastructure.
Mariana’s experience includes advising a US pharmaceutical company in its day-to-day operations in Portugal on pricing and market access, public procurement, interactions with healthcare professionals, transparency obligations, orphan drugs and PAE. He has also represented a European multinational pharmaceutical and life sciences company in a litigation related to a medical device liability claim.
New partners
Globally, Litigation is the area that has added the most new partners, with 16 promotions, followed by Corporate, with 13; Finance, Projects & Restructuring, with 11; and Intellectual Property & Technology, with 10. Other practice groups are Labor & Employment and Real Estate, with four promotions each, Tax & Regulatory and Government Affairs, with two promotions each, and Pro Bono, with one new promotion.
By region, the United States has the largest number of promotions, with 20 new partners, followed by Continental Europe, with 17, and Asia and the Middle East, with two each. Other countries include the United Kingdom with 10, Canada with seven, New Zealand with three, and Australia with two.
