Herbert Smith Freehills appoints Luis Clouet as new finance of counsel

Herbert Smith Freehills has recruited Luis Clouet, a former senior associate in the banking and finance and capital markets department in the New York office of Clifford Chance, as new of counsel to strengthen its banking and finance practice.

Admitted to the New York Bar, Clouet is an expert in advising on all types of cross-border financial and capital markets transactions and joins the practice led by partner Armando García-Mendoza, who recruited Sergio Cires as a partner in January.

Mr. Clouet holds a Law Degree from the University of Buenos Aires School of Law, a Master in Oil and Gas Law from the same university and a Master in International Business Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration from New York University School of Law. He has also been admitted to the New York Bar since 2016.

Expertise

With more than 15 years of professional experience, Clouet is an expert in advising and representing investment funds, financial institutions, multilateral organisations, commercial and investment banks, bidders, project companies, issuers and sponsors in all types of financial transactions, including energy and infrastructure project finance, complex transactions in the areas of project bonds, multicurrency financing and high-yield debt. His experience also includes debt capital markets transactions under Rule 144A, Regulation S and Form 4(a)(2) representing issuers, investors, investment funds, placement agents and financial institutions.

In addition, Clouet is an expert in cross-border corporate finance transactions, as well as asset financings, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial transactions. He has also represented private and listed companies in international commercial and investment arbitrations in the energy sector.
