Repsol acquires 40% stake in Genia Bioenergy: Advisors

Repsol has acquired 40% stake in Genia Bioenergy, company specialized in the biomethane sector. This investment will lead to the creation of a growth platform in the emerging renewable gas industry, considered strategic by the European Union.

The transaction includes the development of 19 biomethane plants, with a total annual capacity of 1.5 TWh, which will generate renewable gas by utilizing agricultural and livestock waste in Spain and Portugal. With this strategic investment, Repsol takes another step forward in the energy transition.

EY Abogados legal team that has participated in this transaction together with the internal legal team of Repsol formed by Leonor Abad Martín and Teresa Acuña Arenas, has been led by Susana Gómez Badiola (corporate/M&A partner), together with the members of her team, Rosa Cañas Lorenzo (corporate/M&A director) and Fernando Moreno-Torres (corporate/M&A associate).
