Telles appoints Francisco Espregueira Mendes as new managing partner

Telles has anounced that Francisco Espregueira Mendes will be the firm’s new managing partner, replacing Miguel Torres. Mendes will commence a new mandate for the three-year period 2024-2026. He will be supported by a board of directors that includes Miguel Torres as chairman, partners Miguel Carvalho, Mariana Ferreira Martins and Gonçalo Pinto Ferreira and managing director João Brito da Silva.

“It is a great privilege and responsibility to take on the role of managing partner at Telles. It is a firm that is more than 30 years old. Its history began in 1936, and it has grown in a solid and sustainable way. Today it has a team of more than 150 lawyers, is nationally and internationally recognised and enjoys a unique reputation among clients, the surrounding community and the legal market. With the support of the entire Telles team, I will continue the firm’s path of growth and transformation, building on the legacy of Luís Telles de Abreu and the success achieved by my predecessors, Carlos Lucena and Miguel Torres,” said Francisco Espregueira Mendes.

Francisco Espregueira Mendes has been a partner at Telles since 2001 and will lead the firm’s corporate, transactional and private equity team of over forty lawyers, which has been involved in high-profile national and international transactions.
