Cuatrecasas advises on financing for Lima airport
Cuatrecasas has advised Exolum on the structuring and implementation of the project financing for the construction of the new fuel plant at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima (Peru).
The financing, granted by BBVA and Banco Santander, in the amount of US$90 million, is subject to Spanish law, while the guarantee package and the trust are governed by Peruvian law.
“The transaction has been particularly complex because it is not a project finance that depends directly on a concession contract, which is the standard structure in Peru. It has been a pleasure to contribute to the expansion of the country’s most important airport infrastructure,” says Aldo Reggiardo, the partner who led our Lima team in the financing.
Our partner Carlos Lasarte, who led our Madrid team, adds: “This has been a particularly interesting transaction due to the type of asset financed and being subject to both jurisdictions. This has allowed us to offer our client comprehensive support with a team comprising Spanish and Peruvian lawyers from our Madrid and Lima offices.”
The Cuatrecasas advisory team included partner Carlos Lasarte and lawyers Juan González Barredo and Miguel Gonzalo, from Madrid, and Aldo Reggiardo, Angélica Congrains, Alejandro Zorrilla, Valeria Abarca and Vasco Mariátegui, from Lima.
