Melo Alves strengthens criminal law practice with André Fortunato

Melo Alves Advogados has strengthened its criminal and regulatory defence litigation, and compliance areas with the arrival of André Fortunato.

Having worked in VdA’s regulatory defense litigation and criminal law department (2017-2019) and in the Lisbon office of Linklaters LLP as a trainee lawyer (2014), André has focused his practice on legal advice in the areas of criminal and litigation, particularly in the competition, environment, health, and telecommunications sectors, and on the prevention of corruption and money laundering. He also worked as an assistant in the offices of the Secretary of State for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the XXIII Constitutional Government (2022-2023) and the Minister of Justice of the XXII Constitutional Government (2019-2022).

Fortunato holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and is studying for a master’s degree at the same institution in the specialty of criminal law and criminal sciences.
