Ontier advises on the €60m sale of 47 Supercor supermarkets to Carrefour
Ontier has advised El Corte Inglés on the sale of 47 Supercor supermarkets to Carrefour for a total of €60 million.
The company has transferred to the Carrefour group the business of 47 Supercor supermarkets, considered non-strategic, retaining the ownership of the real estate owned by El Corte Inglés. The agreement for the transfer of the business establishes certain obligations for the maintenance of employment.
Currently, the Group’s food division has different formats, all of them with a differentiated strategic positioning: El Corte Inglés Supermarkets, Hipercor, Supercor, Sanchez Romero, and the Club del Gourmet stores. In addition, there are more than 550 supermarkets operating in Repsol gas stations, under the Supercor Stop&Go brand.
The advice on the transaction, still pending approval by the competition authorities, has been led by Pablo Enrile (corporate M&A partner) and Natalia Callejo Pla (real estate partner), and the corporate and real estate associates Francisco de Almeida Viegas and Clara González-Páramo Echevarría. Jaime Peiro Gomendio and Daniel Mariño Gorosabel (partner and associate in the tax area), Francisco Cantos and Mariam Garcés García-Cabanes (partner and associate in the competition area) and José María Fernández Mota and Luis Sánchez Quiñones (partner and senior associate in the labor and employment area) also participated in the transaction.
