Costa Ramos included in list of lawyers at ICC

Vânia Costa Ramos, founding partner and member of the board of Carlos Pinto de Abreu e Associados, has just joined the list of lawyers of the International Criminal Court (“ICC”). She is now eligible to be appointed to represent suspects and accused, victims or witnesses before this same court.

Her admission was accepted on the basis of merit criteria, taking into account her extensive experience and proven competence in the areas of criminal law and international criminal law.

The ICC was created in 1998 and began operating in 2002, in The Hague, where its current headquarters are located, as established in Article 3 of the Rome Statute. It is an independent and permanent court that tries people accused of the most serious crimes at the international level, such as the crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
