Linklaters advises on the sale to Repsol of 50.01% stake in CHC Energía

Linklaters has advised CIDE Servicios Comerciales on the sale to Repsol of 50.01% stake in CHC Energía, one of Spain’s leading electricity and gas retailers, with a broad positioning in rural areas and small municipalities.

The advisory team consisted of José Giménez (public law), Esteban Arza, Alberto Vilalta (corporate) and Carlos Olmedo (tax).

Repsol has announced the purchase of a 50.01% stake in the electricity trading company CHC Energia, which allows it to control the company and add nearly 350,000 customers to its portfolio. It now has 2 million electricity and gas customers, and is increasing its geographic expansion in the Iberian Peninsula.

As a result, Repsol achieves the target set in its 2021-2025 strategic plan of 2 million electricity and gas customers, and consolidates its position as the fourth-largest market operator in Spain in terms of the number of electricity and gas customers.
