Abreu Advogados incoporates new of counsel
Abreu Advogados has incorporated Paulo de Sá e Cunha as new of counsel for its criminal law, sanctions and compliance practice, together with Cátia Muchacho, as senior associate.
Paulo de Sá e Cunha has more thn 30 years of experience in the areas of criminal law, sanctions, compliance and investigations, areas which he will strengthen at Abreu Advogados, joining the team coordinated by Francisco Patrício, Ana Rita Duarte de Campos and Pedro Barosa.
With a Law degree from the Lisbon University Law School, Paulo Sá e Cunha’s career highlights the position of head of the legal department of SUCH – Serviço de Utilização Comum dos Hospitais (Common Use of Hospitals Service), between 1998 and 2002, head of the Office of the Secretary of State for Health Administration between 1989 and 1990, and president of Fórum Penal – Associação dos Advogados Penalistas (Criminal Lawyers Association), from 2012 to 2014. Paulo de Sá e Cunha also held the position of member of the Lisbon District Council of the Bar Association and has recently assumed the presidency of the Superior Council of the Bar Association.
The criminal law, sanctions and compliance team at Abreu Advogados has extensive experience in complex criminal and misdemeanour cases, providing specialised and personalised legal advice. In the compliance area, Abreu Advogados provides legal advice to a wide range of business sectors, with special focus on crisis management, corruption and money laundering prevention, corporate governance models, internal investigations and audits and cybersecurity.
Cátia Muchacho studied Law in the University of Lisboa. Now she joins the criminal, sanctions and compliance team from Cuatrecasas where she has worked for more than 9 years as a lawyer.
Cátia has extensive experience in providing legal advice to individuals and legal persons within criminal proceedings, with a focus on corporate governance and compliance, as well as criminal litigation and administrative offences.
