GA_P in the sale of a Eutelsat portfolio
Gómez-Acebo & Pombo (GA_P) has advised Eutelsat, a French listed telecommunications company and leading global connectivity provider, in Spain and Portugal on the sale of the portfolio of more than one thousand customers of the Konnect satellite service to Eurona.
This operation stems from a previous agreement between Eutelsat and Hispasat under which the two companies formed an alliance to promote initiatives to reduce the digital divide in Spain and Portugal. Through this agreement, the French operator leased the satellite capacity of its Konnect satellite to Hispasat and, subsequently, Hispasat transferred the commercialisation of internet access services over this satellite to Eurona.
Eurona is a company specialised in connectivity services and solutions for rural and remote areas. With this sale and purchase, Eurona expands its service in Spain and enters the Portuguese country seeking to increase its business to individuals and to bring its satellite Internet service to places without connection to more countries.
In addition to the respective legal departments of Eutelsat and Eurona, GA_P acted with Almudena Arpón de Mendívil (pictured left) and Mafalda Barreto (pictured right) partners, and Carolina Posse and Susana Morgado, Mercantil associates, have advised on the transaction. Iñigo Igartua and Miguel Troncoso, partners of Competition and European Union; Pedro Vilarinho Pires, associate of TMT; Remedios García, Of Counsel of Fiscal; and Bárbara Sáinz, associate of IP.
