OA-ESPAÇO, an aerospace company that will have the legal support of PRA, has as its promoter the former NASA astronaut, John Danny Olivas (pictured).

PRA-Raposo, Sá Miranda & Associados is responsible for the legal advice of the aerospace company OA-Espaço, which is a pioneer in the Azores and is led by former NASA astronaut John Daniel Olivas (Danny Olivas). The project has the support of the Government of the Azores and is in line with the region’s government strategy, which aims to position itself as a transatlantic “hub” for activities related to Space and Aerospace. Danny Olivas has been engaged in space related projects in the Azores since 2017.

“We are very pleased to be able to be part of this unique project in the Azores that will certainly have such an impact on retaining manpower and attracting talent to the Autonomous Region”, said the partner of PRA and leader of the legal team in charge of advising the company, Joana de Sá. “This is an area in which we intend to consolidate our operations this year”, she concludes.

The company OA-Espaço is already based on the Azorean island of São Miguel and will provide services from consulting in the area of engineering and management of aerospace projects, as well as other projects related to materials, design, development, manufacture and implementation of products intended for the aerospace industry or even the manufacture, repair, maintenance, rental and sale of aircrafts.

The team responsible for legal advice to OA-Espaço was led by Joana de Sá, and also includes Pedro Sá and Sílvia Lima (Corporate), Raquel Moura Tavares (Labour and Immigration); Inês Santos (Tax), Madalena Agnelo Borges (Commercial, Contracts and Competition), David Coelho and Sérgio Alves (Administrative and Public Procurement) and Cátia Ferreira (Immigration).

To be noted that, within the scope of the Azores Strategy for Space (EAE), the Regional Government intends to create the Azores Technical Office for Space which should “serve as a ‘One Stop Shop’ department for licensing, incentives and regulatory aspects ” of the creation and maintenance of activities in the aerospace area, in the Azores.
