Uría Menéndez renews the management team

The General Shareholders’ Meeting of Uría Menéndez has approved the appointment, effective 1 January 2023, of Jesús Remón as the firm’s new chairman, replacing Luis de Carlos. The law firm also renewed the mandate of Salvador Sánchez-Terán as managing partner.

After 17 years at the helm of the firm – the last four years as chairman – and after 37 years of a brilliant professional career at Uría Menéndez, Luis de Carlos will be retiring from the firm on 31 December.

Under the mandate of Jesús Remón as the new chairman and with the leadership of Salvador Sánchez-Terán as managing partner, “the respect for the founding values is guaranteed, which will maintain Uría Menéndez as one of the leading law firms in the Ibero-American legal profession”, stated de Carlos.

Salvador Sánchez-Terán, who leads the firm since 2019, affirmed: “Luis de Carlos has been a benchmark for all of us, not only for his insightful legal criteria but also for his tireless commitment to the values and ethical principles that have always guided our law firm”.

Jesús Remón joined Uría Menéndez in 1996 from the State Attorney’s Office and heads the firm’s Public Law, Litigation and Arbitration department. He is a permanent member of the General Codification Commission and his professional activity focuses on arbitration, both national and international, in civil, criminal and contentious-administrative proceedings, and in advising on legal-administrative and constitutional matters.
