Private Equity transactions in Spain increase 13% until May according to TTR
According to TTR‘s monthly report in collaboration with Intralinks, the Spanish transactional market has registered a total of 1,033 transactions up to the month of May with an aggregate amount of EUR 35,767m.
These figures represent a 9% decrease in the number of transactions compared to the same period in 2021, as well as a 35% decrease in mobilized capital.
During May, there have been 167 mergers and acquisitions, between announced and closed, for an aggregate amount of approximately EUR 10,713m.
In sectoral terms, the Real Estate sector has been the most active of the year, with a total of 259 transactions and an increase of 51% compared to the same period of 2021, followed by the Internet, Software and IT Services, with 122 and a decrease of 15%.
In May 2022, TTR has selected as a notable transaction the acquisition of an additional 36.12% in Garanti by BBVA, through a voluntary Takeover Bid. The deal, which has registered an amount of approximately EUR 1,410m, was advised on the legal side by Garrigues Spain.
The report publishes the rankings of financial and legal advice until May 2022 in M&A, Private Equity, Venture Capital and Capital Markets, where the activity of the outstanding firms is reported by number of transactions and their amount.
Regarding the ranking of legal advisers in M&A, by number of transactions Garrigues Spain leads the year so far, with 53 transactions, while by value, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Spain leads with EUR 8,215m.
