The international Legal community celebrates the World Law Congress Colombia 2021

Barranquilla has been for two days the world capital of Law, hosting the 27th edition of the World Law Congress

The World Jurist Association opnened the World Law Congress together with the minister of Justice of Colombia, the Mayor of Barranquilla, the president of the International Union of Judges, the president of the International Association of Attorneys General and the secretary-general of the World Health Organization.

More than 1500 participants are taking part in the 27th edition of the World Law Congress, which for two days, places Barranquilla as the world capital of Law. A congress organised by the World Jurist Association (WJA), which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Political Constitution of Colombia of 1991 and the 200th anniversary of the Constitution of Cúcuta.

Javier Cremades, president of the WJA, opened this congress and said: “A noble objective reigns, which is the defence of the freedom of each and every person in every corner of the world because tyranny and arbitrariness continue to occupy spaces of power”. He was accompanied by Wilson Ruiz Orejuela, minister of Justice of Colombia and president of the local organising committee, who acknowledged that: “This event is built by all, like democracy,” and pointed out that “we must involve the different actors of society in strengthening justice in the world, making rights realities for all and not privileges for some.” As a minister, he showed “absolute certainty that the Ministry will always work for an open and harmonious dialogue.”

Yesterday afternoon, King Felipe VI of Spain and Iván Duque, president of Colombia, inaugurated the World Peace & Liberty Award monument in the Plaza de la Paz in Barranquilla. The closing ceremony will take place today, with the presence of Iván Duque and HM, the King of Spain.
