Azsure adds José Luis Heas as of counsel

Azsure Abogados has signed José Luis Heras as of counsel to strengthen the service to its clients related to environmental risks.

The growth of this line of business is a strategic objective of the firm, according to its managing partner, Jesús Vélez Martínez, as the loss ratio in this type of risk has increased significantly in recent years.

Jose Luis Heras (pictured) has extensive professional experience and joins Azsure from the Spanish Environmental Risk Pool, of which he has been the manager for the last 27 years. From 2005 to 2008, he was chairman of the Environmental Liability Working Group of the European Insurance Committee (now Insurance Europe), having participated in the work for the transposition and implementation of the Environmental Liability Directive. Prior to that, he was head of CR at Cigna and previously worked at La Unión and El Fénix Español, where he joined 45 years ago.
