Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo names new managing partner
Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo has named Carlos González Soria the firm´s new managing partner in Madrid
The firm founded and chaired by Javier Cremades has confirmed to Iberian Lawyer the appointment of Carlos González Soria (pictured) as the firm´s Madrid office new managing partner. According to the law firm, Carlos González joined Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo last February as a partner in the area of Commercial, Corporate, M&A, Securities Markets and Corporate Governance Law, and, in July, he was appointed managing partner of the law firm. González Soria, who joined from Indra, has a degree in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
González spent more than 24 years as general secretary and deputy secretary of the Board of Directors of Indra and was head of the global legal services of the technology company, leading a team of 75 lawyers in 12 countries, and therefore has extensive experience in managing teams of lawyers and complex Legal matters. Prior to his time at Indra, he was a senior associate at Garrigues from 1991 to 1996.
With this appointment, Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo has entrusted Carlos González with the mission of continuing to evolve and adapt the firm to the challenges that law firms will face in the coming years.
He has been a Roman Law associate professor at the same university and at Universidad Europea de Madrid and also taught Commercial Law at the Instituto de Empresa. He worked as a lawyer at Garrigues from 1991 to 1996, when he joined Indra.
Carlos has extensive international experience in all areas of Law as well as in the management of complex situations and team leadership. He was hired in May to work in the firm´s Madrid office in the areas of Banking & Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets, Commercial, Contracts & Negotiation, Corporate and Corporate Governance.
He was, until October 2020, head of Legal Affairs and deputy secretary of the Board of Directors of Indra, and in this role, he was interviewed by Iberian Lawyer in April 2020. The veteran executive lawyer was one of the few who remained in the company after the immediate departure of other executives linked to former president Javier Monzón and was replaced as head of Legal by Fabiola Gallego.
