Uría Menéndez- Proença de Carvalho has advised the US Private Equity Firm Kohlberg Kravis Robert (KKR) on Portuguese Feedzai’s investment round

Uría Menéndez – Proença de Carvalho has advised Kohlberg Kravis Robert (KKR) on its participation in the investment round raised by Feedzai, a Portuguese company that develops solutions to combat payment fraud and prevent money laundering using artificial intelligence and machine learning. According to the latest valuation of the company, Feedzai now belongs to an exclusive club of Portuguese businesses to achieve unicorn status; such as Unbabel, Outsystems, Talkdesk and Farfetch.

The investment round was led by KKR and also included the participation of investors who already held stakes in Feedzai, such as Sapphire Ventures and Citi Ventures.

The Uría Menéndez – Proença de Carvalho team that advised KKR on this investment was led by M&A partner Antonio Villacampa Serrano (pictured), M&A and Finance associate José António Reymão Nogueira and counted on the participation of M&A associate Frederico Pinho Vieira. The Lisbon office of Garrigues was also involved in the deal, advising Feedzai, as announced by Iberian Lawyer.

In a statement, the Coimbra-based company Feedzai details that this is a Series D investment round that will serve to accelerate its global expansion and expand the product range. “The new investment will be used to accelerate the company’s global expansion, develop the product offering, reinforce the partner strategy and position it as one of the best financial risk prevention and management solutions on the market,” said a spokesperson from the company.
