CMS strengthens Lusophone Africa practice

CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut has hired María Figueiredo as of counsel to reinforce Lusophone Africa practice

Maria Figueiredo has just joined the Lusophone Africa pratice of CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut, led by partner Alberto Galhardo Simões.

Previously Figueiredo was a partner at Miranda & Associados, a firm where she worked the last fifteen years, covering the whole track from associate till becoming a partner in 2018. Before Miranda, she worked at Franc Caiado Guerreiro & Associados. She graduated at the Universidade de Lisboa and took some postgraduate Tax studies.

Figueiredo has extensive experience in the region, after providing Tax advice to the largest companies operating in the continent. She has expertise in several sectors, but mostly in the Energy one—oil, gas and renewable. The first solar project in Angola was a milestone in her CV. With corporate sustainability also at the centre of her activity, she has been working in the United Nations’ ODS-Objectives of Sustainable Development, focusing on African countries.
