Kennedys appoints new leadership team in Spain

Global law firm Kennedys has appointed a new leadership team in its Madrid office to spearhead growth

Presented this time under the name of Kennedys, not Kennedys Abogados, the press release sent by the law firm confirms that the Spanish office will now be led by partners Isidoro Ugena, Alfonso de Ramos and Olivia Delagrange, who will be supported by their existing team of 10 lawyers and support staff.

Isidoro Ugena (pictured top left) has over 20 years of experience and for the last 12 has worked exclusively for the Insurance and Reinsurance sector as an expert litigator and negotiator for both Spanish and London Market insurers. He also has significant experience acting as appointed counsel.

Alfonso de Ramos (pictured right) specialises in working for London Market insurers on claims related to Spain and is an expert in advising on complex Coverage and Litigation issues. He has recently achieved exceptional results in resolving complex and high value disputes and avoiding costly litigation for clients.

Olivia Delagrange (pictured bottom left) is qualified in three jurisdictions, namely Spain, Belgium and England and Wales. She has extensive experience in Transportation law, including marine, road and aviation. Her triple qualification provides added value for international claims and as a result she is often instructed for large and complex losses.

This way the firm seems to continue the “naming war” against former partners Jesus Velez and Jose María Arauz who, as they said and we previously published on March 13, left it to keep operating under the name Kennedys Abogados in Spain since, as they confirmed to IBL, they have trademark Kennedys Abogados SLP registered. However, in this press release, Kennedys (Global) affirms that the firm “has terminated its relationship with partners, who will play no part in Kennedys’ future business operations. Reports in some Spanish media that the former partners will be allowed to continue to use the Kennedys name are false.”
