Latham & Watkins advises Merida Capital on Sosa investment

Latham & Watkins advised Meridia Capital on its acquisition of a 78.7 per cent stake in Barcelona-headquartered food sector company Sosa Ingredients.

Sosa represents the first investment by Meridia’s private equity fund, Meridia Private Equity I.

Meridia Private Equity I seeks to partner with companies that have revenues in the range of €15m-€70m. Each of the fund’s investments ranges from €10m to €25m in equity.

Sosa’s products include freeze dried products, semi-candied and candied fruits and vegetables, extracts, pure paste of nuts, caramelised nuts, and a range of seasonings.

The company has 150 employees and exports to more than 80 countries.

Meridia Capital Partners, which is regulated by the Spanish Securities Market Commission (CNMV), has €525 million of assets under management.
