SRS Advogados advises on CP Carga privatisation

SRS Advogados advised Portuguese state railway Comboios de Portugal and the Portuguese government on the privatisation of rail operator CP Carga.

The deal, which was signed with MSC Rail Portugal – Operadores Ferroviários, was valued at €53 million.

The transaction is subject to approval by the Portuguese Competition Authority.

Until the conclusion of the transaction, CP Carga will remain a subsidiary of Comboios de Portugal, which handles the transport of goods by rail.

MSC Rail Portugal – Operadores Ferroviários is a part of the Mediterranean Shipping Company group, one of the largest ship container owners in the world.

The SRS Advogados team was lead and coordinated by partner José Luis Moreira da Silva, with partner Paulo Bandeira leading negotiations on the sale agreement. The SRS team included more than 20 lawyers in total.
