PLMJ appoints new managing partner

PLMJ has appointed Luís Pais Antunes as managing partner.

 

Pais Antunes – who specialises in the fields of corporate, TMT and EU and competition law – has been appointed for a period of three years.

He succeeds Manuel Santos Vitor, who had been in the role since 2008.

In his role as managing partner, Pais Antunes will focus on the “internationalisation of the firm and on the development of international partnerships”, a firm statement said.

Pais Antunes has previously held the roles of secretary of state for employment, and deputy secretary of state for employment in the Portuguese government. He was a member of the Portuguese parliament and vice president of its European Affairs Committee between 2005 and 2009.

Santos Vítor will remain as a partner at PLMJ heading the firm’s corporate, energy and natural resources team. 

Pais Antunes said: “This challenge is one with enormous responsibility. The coming years will be particularly challenging, with the legal services market seeing a significant upturn and with ever more dynamic competition.”

The firm´s partners have also elected a new board of directors made up of partners Ricardo Oliveira, Paulo Farinha Alves, Tomás Pessanha, Nuno da Cunha Barnabé, Rita Alarcão Júdice and Eduardo Nogueira Pinto.
