Pérez-Llorca to open New York office
Pérez-Llorca has announced it will open a New York office later this year.
The office will not practice American law, but will advise clients on the Spanish law-related aspects of their operations.
The office – located in Park Avenue – will begin operations in the fourth quarter of this year and will be headed by partner Iván Delgado.
The firm said the office would serve as a “gateway to the Latin American market”.
The opening of the new US headquarters follows the opening of the firm´s office in London in December 2014.
“Given that the [London] move came about due to London being the financial capital of Europe, New York presents itself as the central hub from which to work with both the US and Latin American markets,” said the firm´s senior partner Pedro Pérez-Llorca.
He added: “We believe that New York was the missing part of the puzzle – after the opening of the foreign office in London – to cover both the English and the Spanish-speaking markets.”
Delgado said the firm was receiving an increasing number of requests more from US and Latin American companies. He added: “We believe that moving closer to them will serve to boost the excellence of our work and we will be able to be in closer proximity to our clients.”
