DLA to recruit former A&O Spain managing partner
DLA Piper is recruiting former Allen & Overy Spain managing partner Iñigo Gómez-Jordana, according to market sources.
Gómez-Jordana is recognised as an expert in capital markets transactions, including debt and equity, as well as corporate finance deals, particularly in the area of cross-border mergers & acquisitions.
He joined Allen & Overy in Madrid in 2001, following a period spent at Clifford Chance in London.
Earlier this year, Gómez-Jordana was replaced as Allen & Overy Spain managing partner by Andrew Clark, though Gómez-Jordana remained with the firm.
A market insider told Iberian Lawyer that Gómez-Jordana´s was set to join DLA, though a DLA Piper spokeswoman declined to comment.
DLA Piper´s Spain managing partner is Pilar Menor, who assumed the role last year.
Recent data published by Mergermarket showed that DLA Piper advised on Iberian M&A deals with a total value of $12.2 billion in the first half of 2014, a six-fold increase on the same period last year. Most notable was DLA´s role advising Vodafone on the €7.2 billion acquisition on Ono.
“Gómez-Jordana´s portfolio of IBEX 35 clients will enable DLA to further build on this reputation for acting on higher profile deals,” said one market source.
