In other news this week, PPU handled two separate sovereign bonds in Chile, advising the initial purchasers. Also in Chile, Carey advising Macquarie bank on a loan to mining company Laguna Gold.

Across the Andes in Argentina, Marval acted for Brink´s on the acquisition of a local competitor while in Brazil, Davis Polk and Simpson Thacher acted on Carrefour Brasil´s IPO. 

In Peru, EY handled the tax due diligence of the GMD sale by Graña y Montero while in Venezuela two law firms announced a strategic alliance. 

Meanwhile, in a high profile lateral move in Colombia, Jaime Robledo joined Brigard & Urrutia from Gomez Pinzon. In Mexico, Cuatrecasas bulked up its arbitration practice and so did Squire Patton Boggs in Paris. The latter added Jose Ricardo Feris as a partner, he is a former deputy secretary general of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and an experienced specialist in arbitration matters in Latin America. 

Elsewhere, the Analysis section includes a report about Puerto Rico and how law firms on the island expect a positive outcome of the implementation of PROMESA (Puerto Rico Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Act)
